Group of Six Artists
Group of six artists began to gather in Zagreb in 1975. The group consisted of Boris Demur, Vlado Martek, Željko Jerman, Mladen Stilinović, Sven Stilinović and Fedor Vučemilović, who from the beginning performed together at exhibitions-actions, in publishing of the magazine MAJ’75 (from 1978 to 1984, 17 issues were published), in alternative forms of activity (Working community of artists) and in a gallery organization (Podroom). They exhibited the works primarily in public places, met with non-artistic audiences, and avoided institutions in the production and exhibition of art. Art as a dynamic process, elementary expression, the use of new media and a conceptual approach are the basic features in their work and activities. After the termination of the Group’s activities in 1984, some authors achieved significant international artistic careers.
