Miroslav Šutej
Miroslav Šutej (Duga Resa, 1936 – Krapinske Toplice, 2005) began his education at the School of Applied Arts in Zagreb, then continued it at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he graduated in the graphics class of professor Marijan Detoni in 1961. He was an associate of Krsto Hegedušić’s Master Workshop (1961-1963), and he stayed in Paris in 1964/65 as a scholarship holder of the French government. From 1966 to 1978, he lived in Kutina, and then in Zagreb, where he worked as a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts until his death. His works are characterized by purity of conception, imaginative composition and high technical quality. He was engaged in graphic design, especially posters, scenography and interior design. He designed Croatian kuna banknotes (1993). The film In Search of Šutej was shot by director N. Puhovski (1981). He is the winner of the Zagreb City Award (1979) and the “Vladimir Nazor” Annual Award (Zagreb, 1986).
