Živko Toplak
Živko Toplak (Varaždin, 1948) was employed as a worker in the Varaždin Metal Industry and from the mid-70s experimented with different artistic processes in metal, paper and other materials. Transforming materials, processuality, analytical procedure and tautological dimension include his early works in the framework of new artistic practice. Of course, with full awareness of the special circumstances of the “peripheral” trend and the ideological, spiritual and biographical assumptions that determined the character and value of his artistic position, but also the reasons for the radical abandonment of innovative forms in the early eighties.
